Darlene Walters
Darlene has been with AIP for nearly 28 years, and has transitioned AIP into an era of online publishing with a strong international presence. In the early years of her management career at AIP, Darlene was responsible for the production of the journals of the American Physical Society, in a dedicated branch servicing solely the needs of this large, prestigious society. In later years she was instrumental in international negotiations with AIP’s Russian translation program and has been active in strategic planning for AIP for a number of years. She holds a bachelors degree from St. Francis University in Pennsylvania and an MBA from Adelphi University in New York. Darlene is a member of the Association of American Publishers, the Society for Scholarly Publishing, and the Council of Engineering and Scientific Society Executives. |
Darlene Walters is responsible for all publishing operations at AIP’s Publishing Center, including the publication program of the AIP and the publishing services provided by AIP to its Member Societies and society publishing customers. Her operation spans across all areas of publishing including production and composition of more than 350,000 pages/year, online hosting and fulfillment services for over 170 journals, marketing, web-based peer review, product and services sales, and supporting technology. With a Publishing program and Publishing Services operation approximating $63M in total revenue, Darlene is also responsible for the publishing of AIP’s premier journals in physics and related fields.
