Pet Scans Confirm Benefits of Diet and Exercise on Cardiac Health
Using Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scans, cardiologists have found that heart disease patients who follow a strict diet and exercise plan, as well as taking medication, lessened their risk of a future heart attack. The PET scan measures blood flow in the coronary arteries. Doctors compared the first PET scan to a follow up scan five years later to predict patients' risk.
