Tumors on Ice

Surgical Oncologists Freeze Benign Breast Tumors

A new procedure allows doctors to remove benign breast tumors with local anesthesia and no stitches. After locating tumors with ultrasound, doctors freeze them by inserting a small probe filled with non-toxic argon gas. The super-cold gas forms an ice ball around the tumor.
