Oncologists Tap Into Body's Immune System to Fight Leukemia

Oncologists at the University of California in San Diego have developed an innovative treatment for lymphocytic leukemia, the most common form of leukemia in the western hemisphere. They extract white blood cells called T-cells and combine them with special antibodies that cause them to multiply and become active. When reinjected, the T-cells help restore the immune system from the effects of chemotherapy
