Endocrinologists Test Carotid Thickening with Doppler Ultrasound

Endocrinologists have discovered that people can have normal cholesterol and still have carotid artery thickening. The researchers are trying to reverse carotid artery thickness by combining a cholesterol-lowering drug with Doppler ultrasound to monitor the carotid artery. Doctors think they can better identify those at risk of stroke and heart attack.
