Fire Protection Engineers Model Burning Buildings in 3D

February 1, 2003

Fire protection engineers are using a new 3D computer model to study how fire and smoke spreads throughout a building. The model incorporates the building's blueprints and can help predict whether the building could collapse. The simulations could help firefighters avoid hazards and engineers design safer buildings.
