Improved Mouth Guards Protect Athletes from Concussions

Oral surgeons have developed a mouth guard that helps prevent blows on the jaw from causing concussions. The shock-absorbing plastic repositions the jaw to provide a cushion of space between the jawbone and the skull. When an athlete gets hit on the jaw, the mouth guard redistributes the impact forces, protecting the brain.
