Imaging The Physics of Walking to Prevent Diabetes-Related Foot Ulcers

A new technology is allowing podiatrists to create custom-fitted shoe inserts for diabetes patients. The technology uses sensors to measure where on their feet patients put the most pressure as they walk. Making customized insoles that relieve pressure on those points can help spread the pressure and prevent the formation of ulcers, a common foot ailment in diabetics.
