Laser Treatment for BPH

Urologists Use Photoselective Vaporization for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia

A new, minimally invasive procedure can be used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia, or BPH, a common enlargement of the prostate that can obstruct normal urine flow. In the procedure, called photoselective vaporization, a high-powered laser is aimed at the prostate, which creates heat and causes excess tissue top vaporize. The laser singles out BHP tissue because it has more blood vessels than other tissue.
