Tentative Congressional Calendar for 1999
If you plan to come to Washington, D.C. to meet with your Senator or Representative, keep in mind that Members are usually in town from Tuesday through Thursday, and travel home on weekends. While Hastert's vow may keep them working longer weeks in Washington, it is still best to plan office visits to Capitol Hill on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday.
Often the most effective time to visit with your Senator or Representative is over a weekend or during a congressional recess, when your Member of Congress may be in his or her state/district office for an extended period of time. This assures that you will not be competing for your Member's attention with hearings or floor votes.
