NSF's "FY
2002 Budget Request to Congress" details the Geosciences request. The
Geosciences Activity request would decrease 0.6%, or $3.65 million, from
$562.19 million to $558.54 million.
There are three
Subactivities within the Geosciences Activity:
The Atmospheric Sciences Subactivity
budget would decrease 1.0%, or $1.95 million, from $188.45 million to
$186.50 million.
Within the Atmospheric Sciences Subactivity, the Atmospheric
Sciences Research Support budget would decrease 1.0%, or $1.20
million, from $117.07 million to $115.87 million. The budget for the
National Center for Atmospheric Research would decrease 1.1%, or $0.75
million, from $71.38 million to $70.63 million.
The Earth Sciences Subactivity budget
would increase 0.8%, or $0.98 million, from $115.81 million to $116.79
million.
Within the Earth Sciences Subactivity, the Earth
Sciences Project Support budget would increase 1.2%, or $0.91
million, from $78.28 million to $79.19 million. The
Instrumentation and Facilities budget would increase 0.2%, or
$0.05 million, from $28.47 million to $28.52 million. The
Continental Dynamic budget would increase 0.2%, or $0.02 million,
from $9.06 million to $9.08 million.
The Ocean Sciences Subactivity budget
would decrease 1.0%, or $2.68 million, from $257.93 million to $255.25
million.
Within the Ocean Sciences Subactivity, the Ocean
Section budget would decrease 1.5%, or $1.48 million, from $97.58
million to $96.10 million. The Integrative Program
Section budget would decrease 0.5%, or $0.44 million, from $83.29
million to $82.85 million. The budget for the
Marine Geosciences Section would decrease 1.0%, or $0.76 million,
from $77.06 million to $76.30 million.
