These papers have been indexed in the International Catalog of Sources for History of Physics and Allied Sciences (ICOS) using the following terms. Those seeking related materials should search under these terms.

Historical Note

Harvard Project Physics, in existence from 1964 to 1972, involved personnel from the Physics Dept., Faculty of Education and outside Harvard. Its funding was external. The purpose of the project was to develop curriculum for secondary and college physics courses, and an introductory physics course designed for non-science majors.

Scope and Contents of Collection

This collection documents the workings of the Harvard Project Physics programs, and includes copies of different versions of units of the Text and Handbook, Reader, Supplementary Units, Student Workbooks, Handbook, Appendix, Tests, Film Guide, Experiments and Equipment, Teacher's Resource Book, Overhead Transparencies, and sales/publisher's materials. While this collection includes primarily versions of published materials, there are also some letters commenting on the project. Duplicates have been removed. The materials from John Rigden may have been used as part of experimental courses taught during the developmental stages of the course.

Organization and Arrangement of Collection

This collection is organized into a single series:
