Biographical Note

Ph.D., California Institute of Technology (1962). Senior staff physicist, Hughes Research Laboratory; research fellow and lecturer, California Institute Technology; professor of physics, University of California, Irvine; professor of physics, University of Southern California; Dean of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, University of Southern California; founder of the Program in Neural, Informational, and Behavioral Sciences, University of Southern California.

Scope and Contents of Collection

Contains six bound books of notes from lectures at the California Institute of Technology, given by Murray Gell-Mann (quantum mechanics, field theory, and theoretical physics), Robert L. Walker (high energy physics), and William A. Fowler (nuclear physics). The Gell-Mann notes were written by William G. Wagner. Also includes one lengthy proposal (approximately 200 pages) by the Midwestern Universities Research Association for permission to build a high intensity accelerator.

Organization and Arrangement of Collection

This collection is organized into two series:

  • Series I: Notes
