Historical Note
This professional society of educators, industrial and government research workers, and students of physics and related fields, was established in 1899 to promote the advancement and diffusion of the knowledge of physics. It was a founding Member Society of the American Institute of Physics.
Scope and Contents of Collection
The collection contains miscellaneous publications printed by the American Physical Society (APS) for their members, and includes newsletters, membership directories, brochures, flyers, pamphlets. Along with the American Physical Society News (1994-2011), the collection includes newsletters of some of the divisions including the Forum on Physics and Society (1972-2005), the Forum on History of Physics (1985-1996, 2006-2009), and the Committee on the Status of Women in Physics (1994-2010).
