Biographical Note

Physicist (electrical measurements) and educator. Homer Dodge was on the faculty of the University of Oklahoma as head of physics department (1919-1942), dean of graduate school (1926-1944), and organizer and director of Oklahoma Research Institute (1941-1944). Dodge was also a founder, first president, and member of Governing Board of the American Association of Physics Teachers (AAPT) from 1933 to 1939, director of the Office of Scientific Personnel, National Research Council (1942-1944), and president of Norwich University (1944-1950).

Scope and Contents of Collection

This addition to the Homer L. Dodge papers is comprised of correspondence, biographical and family records, information regarding Dodge's canoeing experience, and some professional documentation. Items include recollections about Dodge and an obituary written by friends and colleagues; correspondence with family members and friends; travel notes, films and correspondence from Dodge's canoe trips, including a trip at the opening of the St. Lawrence Seaway; yearbook from Colgate University; copy of World War I draft and registration forms; article reprint; gravitational wave data readings from various equipment; films and home videos, including travel and canoe documentation; family photographs.
