AIP Wins MarkLogic Innovation Award

News Release

Melville, NY, May 14, 2010 — The American Institute of Physics was named the recipient of a 2010 MarkLogic Innovation Award at the seventh annual MarkLogic User Conference in San Francisco, CA. The MarkLogic Innovation Awards recognize customers that have demonstrated outstanding leadership in building the next generation of information applications.

"This past year has seen transformative changes to our Scitation hosting platform, one of which was the incorporation of MarkLogic Server, said Paul DeCillis, AIP's Director of Online Publishing. "This pivotal infrastructure component has enabled us to re-imagine Scitation from the ground up, enhancing the platform with an extensive suite of online features that help researchers significantly reduce discovery and reading time." In presenting the Innovation Awards, company CEO Dave Kellogg stated, "Our customers have proven that the right infrastructure enables organizations to build and deploy powerful applications that generate significant value from semi- and unstructured information. We're pleased to recognize the leadership of the 2010 Innovation Award winners and congratulate them on their achievements."

In addition, MarkLogic Server has given AIP the agility to quickly build and deploy such leading-edge information tools as iResearch, a mobile e-Reader app that makes AIP journal articles accessible on the Apple iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch. It has also enabled creation of mobile editions of AIP journals, delivering handheld access to all content and functions.

DeCillis added, "AIP is committed to driving innovation in STM publishing, and we hope this new Innovation Award, coming close on the heels of the 2009 PROSE Award for our professional and social networking site AIP UniPHY, provides further proof of our dedication to this goal."
