    PACS 2003 - SPECIAL EDITION

    This special edition of PACS® is the earliest available copy of the revised 2003 scheme. It has been produced approximately three weeks in advance of the posting of the PACS scheme on AIP's website to make the revised PACS codes available for the articles scheduled for 2003 journal issues. This edition contains embedded mapping instructions for transforming the deleted 2001 PACS codes into the new 2003 codes. The deleted codes have USE instructions, directing the user to one or more possible codes in the 2003 PACS scheme.

    In this Special Edition:

  • New codes have N preceding the code and are colored green
  • Deleted codes have D preceding the code and are colored red
  • Modified codes are preceded by M and are colored yellow
  • The original text of Modified codes is preceded with S for Superseded
  • The unchanged codes are not preceded by any letter and are carried over from the 2001 Edition of PACS.
