Tuning Carbon Nanotubes

Schematic diagram of an experiment for resonantly exciting multi-walled
nanotubes (MWNT). The nanotubes are attached to a nickel tip and are
set in motion by an oscillating voltage applied to two anodes. Electrons
spewed from nanotube ends provide a record of nanotube motions, which
in turn indicate the resonant mechanical frequencies of the nanotubes.
