Double Quantum Dot
To the left a set of piezoelectric fingers generate a surface
acoustic wave, an acoustic pulse which propagates across the surface of a structure
in which two quantum dots are embedded. This wave excites an electron in one
quantum dot (represented by a sort of red basket) to tunnel over into a nearby second
quantum dot (the basket to the right).
