Optical Antenna
A new laser antenna, developed by scientists at Harvard, permits light at wavelengths of 800 nm to image
structures as small as 40 nanometer. In this figure the antenna structure is imaged by an atomic force microscope (AFM), by
a scanning electron microscope (SEM), and by the antenna itself. The graph in the lower right shows a direct scan of light
intensity across the width of the antenna.
