First Pictures Taken With Space-Based Radio Telescope

The sharpest radio maps yet of celestial objects have been taken with data supplied by two ground-based radio telescopes, the Very Large Array (VLA), the Very Long Baseline Array (VLBA), and the satellite telescope HALCA. This picture shows the clearly resolved jet shooting out of quasar 11256+295. (Courtesy National Radio Astronomy Observatory)
