A study of weather at these 14 sites around the world shows a remarkable consistency: the correlation between today's temperature and the temperature N days later (for periods as long as a century or more) falls off as N raised to a certain (universal) power. This research is reported by Koscielny-Bunde et al., from the University of Giessen in the 20 July 1998 issue of Physical Review Letters.
