PHYSICS NEWS UPDATE IS NOW USING THE AIP LISTSERVER , an automated electronic system, to maintain the PHYSNEWS mailing list used in distributing copies of Physics News Update via electronic mail. The Listserver will allow you to add or delete your e-mail address to the list. NOTE: If you received this message by e-mail, you are already on the PHYSNEWS mailing list and you need do nothing. If you wish to delete yourself from the list, change your address, or if you are a new subscriber (there is no charge for Physics News Update), please follow these steps: 1. Your e-mail message should be sent to: listserv@aip.org 2. Leave the "Subject:" line blank. 3. The body of the message should specify one of these commands: help The listserver returns a list of all valid commands. add physnews The listserver will read the e-mail address to be added from your message header. The commands "sub" and "subscribe" may also be used in place of "add." add <e-mail address> physnews Allows you to add an address other than the one that appears in the header of your current message. delete physnews The listserver will delete the address that appears in the header of your message. The commands "unsub" and "unsubscribe" can also be used in place of "delete."

To protect against unauthorized deletions, the listserver does not allow you to delete any address other than the one in the header of your message. If your old account has been closed out and you wish to delete it from the PHYSNEWS mailing list, send an e-mail message stating the old address to: physnews-listserv-manager@aip.org For other questions regarding Physics News Update, mail to: pfs2@aip.org
