Partnership Agreement Makes AIP Publisher of Journal of Laser Applications
Melville, NY, October 1, 2010 — The American Institute of Physics (AIP) today announced the signing of a strategic partnership agreement with the Laser Institute of America (LIA) to publish its flagship publication, Journal of Laser Applications (JLA).
"After a dozen years as a publishing partner, AIP's excellent track record made the decision to take our partnership to the next level an easy one,” said LIA Executive Director, Peter Baker. "What really cinched it for us were AIP's upgrades to staff, the further enhancements they made to their already robust Scitation platform, and the strong global presence they can offer JLA. In addition, AIP gave us the distinct impression throughout our meetings that this wasn't about AIP doing work for us, but rather doing work with us.”
The agreement reached with LIA closely mirrors that of other partnerships AIP is currently pursuing with a number of society publishers.
"While our mission revolves around progress in physical science, we are a highly business-driven, entrepreneurial organization with a responsibility to generate a profit for the many publishers with whom we partner,” said Robert Harington, Publisher, AIP Partnerships. This blend of business focus, with a commitment to serve the society publishing community, gives us a unique viewpoint and helps us to form strong and progressive partnerships.”
