AIP is the new online home for the two journals of the Electrochemical SocietyAgreement Includes Composition and Graphics Services Melville, NY, December 1, 2000 C The American Institute of Physics (AIP) announced today that The Electrochemical Society (ECS) has chosen AIP's Online Journal Publishing Service (OJPS) as the platform to host its two journals online. The Journal of The Electrochemical Society and Electrochemical and Solid-State Letters are the two ECS publications that will be accessible on the OJPS Website as of January 2001. In addition to hosting the two ECS journals online, AIP will also provide composition services for the more than 6,000 pages ECS will publish in print in 2001. These services include typesetting, complete SGML encoding, proofreading, production of digitized graphics, electronic page makeup, and other services that combine to produce well-formatted pages for these publications. The Online Journal Publishing Service enhances the value of ECS publications by providing a number of powerful electronic features. These include: $ An individual home page for each journal from which users may launch advanced searches of ECS publications $ HTML-formatted abstract displays and tables of contents, with links to various article delivery options $ Citation links to referenced articles from other publishers and to abstracts indexed in the INSPEC and SPIN databases $ Full-text articles in HTML format with intra-document links to figures, tables, and reference citations, and in PDF and PostScript format $ A "virtual filing cabinet" feature that allows researchers to store selected articles in a custom list for future reference ECS is a 8,000-member organization of scientists and engineers in over 70 countries worldwide. The Society has a long tradition in advancing the theory and practice of electrochemical and solid state science by dissemination of information through its publications and international meetings. "We are very pleased to be working with AIP and to be among our peers on the OJPS platform," said Mary Yess, ECS Director of Publications. "AIP is going to provide the expertise necessary to make the online delivery of our journals match the high quality of the content. We look forward to working with this very fine organization and its member and affiliated societies." The American Institute of Physics is a not-for-profit corporation chartered in 1931 to provide publishing and distribution services for scientific and technical societies. Its Online Journal Publishing Service currently hosts e-journals of the American Physical Society, American Vacuum Society, Acoustical Society of America, The Society of Rheology, Biomedical Engineering Society, American Association of Physicists in Medicine, American Association of Physics Teachers, American Society of Civil Engineers, the ASME International, and SPIE C The International Society for Optical Engineering, as well as AIP's own publications.
