AIP is the new online home for the publications of The Society of Exploration Geophysicists

MELVILLE, NY, OCTOBER 15, 2001 - The American Institute of Physics (AIP) announced today that the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) has chosen AIP's Online Journal Publishing Service (OJPS) as the online platform to host its publications, Geophysics and The Leading Edge. In addition to the current issues, the full complement of previously published issues will be available online.

The Online Journal Publishing Service enhances the value of the SEG publications by providing a number of powerful electronic features. These include:

  • HTML-formatted abstract displays and tables of contents, with links to various article delivery options
  • Reference links to cited articles from other publishers and to abstracts indexed in the INSPEC and SPIN databases
  • Full-text articles in PDF and PostScript format
  • Searchable database of the bibliographic records for each article [including author(s), title(s), and abstracts(s)] to enable searching of all online issues
  • A "virtual filing cabinet" feature that allows researchers to store selected articles in a custom list for future reference

SEG has also contracted with AIP to provide Marketing and Circulation and Fulfillment services for their online and print institutional subscriptions.

"We hope that the addition of these prestigious journals to our online platform proves beneficial to SEG members and, indeed, to the entire geophysics community," said Darlene Walters, AIP's Vice President for Publishing. Ms. Walters added, "We're also very pleased at the opportunity to place an extensive amount of new research at the fingertips of our current OJPS users."

The American Institute of Physics is a not-for-profit corporation chartered in 1931 to provide publishing and distribution services for scientific and technical societies. Its Online Journal Publishing Service currently hosts e-journals of The American Physical Society, AVS Science & Technology Society, Acoustical Society of America, The Society of Rheology, Biomedical Engineering Society, American Association of Physicists in Medicine, American Association of Physics Teachers, American Society of Civil Engineers, the ASME International, Earthquake Engineering Research Institute, The Electrochemical Society, and SPIE --- The International Society for Optical Engineering, as well as AIP's own publications.
