David K. Christen named new Editor of Virtual Journal of Applications of Superconductivity

Melville, NY, May 14, 2010 — American Institute of Physics (AIP) and the American Physical Society (APS) named Dr. David K. Christen as the new Editor of Virtual Journal of Applications of Superconductivity. Dr. Christen is currently Group Leader of the Superconductive & Energy Efficient Materials Group at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Dr. Christen was also a recipient of the "Nano-50 Award" by Nanotech Briefs magazine in 2006. The award recognized “the top 50 technologies, innovators, and products that have significantly impacted, or will impact, the state of the art in nanotechnology.” AIP and APS would like to extend a warm welcome to him along with thanks for his willingness to serve the applied superconductivity community in his new role as Editor.

Dr. Christen succeeds Dr. John R. Clem, who as the founding editor of Virtual Journal of Applications of Superconductivity (VJAS), was at the helm of the journal from 2001 through April 2010. AIP, APS, and the broad community of applied superconductivity researchers deeply thank Dr. Clem for his service and dedication and wish him the best in the future.

VJAS features critical research articles, updated twice monthly, along with postings of news items and conferences of interest to the community. Articles are selected from recent issues of nearly 90 participating source journals from AIP, APS, and more than a dozen other publishers. Readers can sign up for tables of contents alerts via e-mail and subscribe to RSS feeds. VJAS offers free searching, browsable tables of contents, and freely available abstracts, with links to full-text articles in the source journals. Subscribers to the source journals can seamlessly access the full-text articles, while non-subscribers have the option to purchase articles for immediate online delivery.
