Four Scholarly Publishers Choose Scitation® to Host their Online Journals

Melville, NY, 15 October 2008 — The American Institute of Physics (AIP) (www.aip.org) announced today that Physics Essays Publication, the American Helicopter Society, and the Environmental and Engineering Geophysical Society have chosen AIP's Scitation platform to host their highly regarded publications. In addition to these three prestigious organizations, Scitation will also host the American Astronomical Society's Astronomy Education Review, an online publication that uses new ideas and resources for teaching and outreach in astronomy and space sciences.

"We're very pleased that these publishers thought so highly of the work we've done to date for numerous other STM publishers that they've chosen Scitation to host their own online journals," said Paul DeCillis, AIP's Director of Online Publishing. "We look forward to the challenge of helping these organizations meet the increasing demands of today's rapidly evolving online environment."

AIP's Scitation staff will work closely with all involved to create sites that mirror the publishers' unique identity. A number of invaluable product features ensure that each publication will represent a valuable research tool for those in the allied fields they serve. In addition to Scitation's easy-to-navigate interface and powerful search engine, a number of Web 2.0 enhancements now infuse these pages with a tremendous degree of interactivity, and provide users with great latitude for manipulating the information provided.

"Our goal is to greatly enhance the online functionality of these journals, thus increasing their visibility and furthering the mission of each organization," said Darlene Walters, AIP Senior Vice President for Publishing. "Hosting this content on our robust Scitation platform will benefit not only subscribers, but the research community at large, by making this large amount of additional content more readily accessible."

AIP's Scitation publishing platform currently hosts more than 1,600,000 articles from more than 185 scholarly publications for 25 learned society publishers, in fields including physics, chemistry, geosciences, engineering, acoustics, and other sciences. AIP also offers a suite of publishing services, which covers every aspect of journal production, with complete management oversight from receipt of authors' manuscripts through print and online distribution.
