Peer X-Press®
Powerful features to streamline your workflow and speed time to publication
The convenient and easy-to-use features of Peer X-Press (PXP) provide tracking and processing throughout the editorial workflow: author submission, reviewer selection, review submission, revision, and approval. Your editors, authors, reviewers, and staff are permitted to access individual manuscripts according to their assigned role and the workflow stage of the manuscript.
Each PXP site supports one of a number of publication types: journal manuscripts, meeting abstracts, conference papers, or book chapters. You can also manage workflows where authors themselves prepare the final publication.
Inquire About Manuscript Status
PXP gives your corresponding authors the ability to check the status of their submitted manuscripts. In addition to their uploaded source files, authors may download the same PDF files that are presented to editors and reviewers. Authors may also access data and files for past manuscripts that have received final decisions.
Submit Reviews Online
Reviewers are able to access PDF article-text and figure files for the manuscript as soon as they accept an assignment. The review reports can be filled in online or completed offline in a word processor, and then either pasted into the online review form, directly uploaded, or submitted as an e-mail attachment. Reviewers receive e-mail copies of their reports.
Generate Reports
Journal staff and editors manage the performance of the editorial process with an ever-growing collection of dynamically generated, tabular data reports, available on screen and as Excel file downloads.
Submit Manuscripts Online
Your authors can upload manuscript source files—both article-text and separate graphics files—via a web browser. Authors may also upload supplemental material and multimedia files.
Choose Reviewers
PXP has the flexibility to either automatically assign an editor to oversee the peer-review process for a manuscript (e.g., by subject matter), or allow the editor-in-chief or editorial staff to designate the editor. The assigned editor may consult a database of eligible reviewers that is searchable by name, expertise, institution, and keyword. In addition, a one-click search function can match expertise keywords with the manuscript's topical keywords.
Revise Manuscripts
PXP enables your editors and staff to select, check, and send the appropriate decision letter from their own set of custom letters, including attachments. Revised and re-submitted articles retain the manuscript and related summary data from the original version.
Track Manuscripts
For editors and staff, PXP sorts and organizes manuscript records into folders labeled according to major workflow categories. PXP collects all manuscripts that are under active consideration, and provides a convenient summary of workflow-activity information. Editors and staff can easily track each manuscript's current stage; see a historical log of all transaction events and links to editorial notes regarding the manuscript and to all system e-mail messages related to the manuscript.
