the STIX project has the potential to solve a problem that dates back to the 1400's, when Gutenberg first conceived of movable type. -New York Times (Nov. 7, 2002)

STIX Fonts Production Release In Final Packaging

Problems Identified with PUA Will Cause Short Delay

We have discovered many missing glyphs in the non-Unicode fonts (Unicode Private Use Area. Resolution of these problems is still being investigated. We will post a revised target for release date as soon as the missing glyphs have been replaced.

We have received many requests for current copies or beta versions of the fonts but we are unable to supply anything until the final version. Our goal is to release the production version (OpenType fonts with Type 1 font information) some time during the last half of October. Advanced OpenType support (allowing the fonts to work with Office 2007 applications) will be released later this year, followed soon by LaTeX support.

The STIX Fonts will be released under the SIL Open Font License. Text of the license is available here.

This site was last updated on 27 October. The next update will occur as soon as the a new target date has been established.

Please direct any questions to the STIX Fonts project.
