Minutes of Meeting

Present: George R. Harrison (Chairman), F. W. Loomis, George B. Pegram, Gaylord P. Harnwell, John C. Steinberg

The Executive Committee met at 3:35 p.m., April 1, 1950.

1. Election of Associate:

The Secretary presented an application and on motion made, seconded, and unanimously carried, Socony Vacuum Laboratories was elected an Associate of the Institute.

2. Authorization to Sign Checks:

It was reported that it would be desirable to authorize the Executive Secretary to sign checks for the Institute and accordingly the following motion was made, seconded, and unanimously carried:

MOVED that Mr. Waterfall be authorized to sign checks for the Institute and that the attached resolution required by bank regulations be adopted.

3. Placement Service:

The Secretary reported that the Physical Society had requested that the Institute operate its Placement Register at the April 1950 meeting of the Physical Society in Washington, D.C. It was estimated that this will cost the Institute from $200 to $300. After some discussion, the following motion was made, seconded, and unanimously carried:

MOVED that the Institute operate the Placement Register at the April 1950 meeting of the Physical Society in Washington, D.C.

4. Appointment of Committees:

In accordance with authorization by the Governing Board, the following committees were appointed to serve until the next annual meeting of the Governing Board:
