Sam M. Austin (1933-) is a nuclear physicist who obtained his PhD in physics from the University of Wisconsin (1960). He held a postdoctoral fellowship at Oxford University before working at Stanford University (1961-1965) and then moving to Michigan State University (1965-present) and working at the National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory.
