Sean McEnroe, Photograph Collections Assistant
As we head into October, we'll be looking at more of what goes on in the photo archives.
I’m Sean McEnroe, Photograph Collections Assistant at the Niels Bohr Library & Archives, Emilio Segrè Visual Archives. I discovered behind the scenes library work after enjoying a volunteer stint at the Library of Congress working with old French language books. I came to AIP in 2015 to digitize part of the rare book collection and improve photo archive metadata in the photo archive. Currently, I work solely with the photographic collections. I’m responsible for photograph rehousing, digitization, and original cataloging, researching special projects, and metadata creation and updating. This work gives me the opportunity to experience the collection hands on and learn about the history of physics as it relates to events great and small in the history of our world. Since I enjoy books and history, in my spare time I go to different libraries and read more books.
Follow us on Facebook and Twitter at @AIPhistory. This month I'll take you behind the scenes at the Emilio Segrè Visual Archives.
