Van Flandern and Slabinski discuss their work in astronomy, satellite tracking, and involvement in the Moonwatch project of the Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory.
Tom Van Flandern held several positions in the field of celestial mechanics at various government laboratories including the U.S. Naval Observatory and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (1963-1983); he was a research associate in the Physics Dept. at the University of Maryland, 1992-2000; and in 1990 he became founder and president of Meta Research Inc.
Victor Slabinski, an astronomer in the Astrodynamics section at INTELSAT in Washington, D.C., where he works on the orbital mechanics of geostationary communications satellites.
