UniPHY scientific social and professional network adds new discussion groups feature

News Release

Melville, NY, November 3, 2010 — The American Institute of Physics announced today the addition of UniPHY Discussion Groups, a new, highly interactive feature on the UniPHY professional and social networking platform. This new feature will allow UniPHY members to form collaborative environments centered around any number of common interests, including journals, disciplines, institutions, organizations, or upcoming events.

"We feel that the addition of Discussion Groups to UniPHY will provide members with a significant improvement in their ability to utilize the interactive aspects of the platform, which is in line with our goal of enhancing and accelerating the collaborative process among scientific researchers," said Chris Iannicello, Product Manager of UniPHY. "We encourage scientists to join UniPHY and begin participating in dynamic conversations that will foster new ideas and discoveries."

The new Discussion Groups feature gives researchers the ability to:

  • Create public Groups, which any UniPHY member can join
  • Create private Groups and invite selected members to join
  • Create or comment on threaded discussions within Group pages
  • Search for Groups created by other members

UniPHY is a first-of-its-kind networking platform for physical scientists. The platform is pre-populated with 300,000 profiles of individual scientists based on their publication history. A researcher can discover the work each of these scientists has conducted and follow a web of connections, including co-authors and the co-authors' collaborators.
