Sizzling glaciers, eavesdropping killer whales, and what a Formula 1 race does to your eardrums were just some of the latest inventions and discoveries featured at the 166th Meeting of the Acoustical Society of America, held December 2–6, 2013, in San Francisco, CA. AIP’s media services team helped publicize the meeting by selecting newsworthy presentations, writing and editing press releases, coordinating the submission and posting of lay-language papers to ASA’s World Wide Press Room, and organizing and conducting a webcast press briefing. Their efforts resulted in widespread media coverage of science from the meeting, including stories in The Washington Post, LA Times, The New York Times, The Huffington Post, Fox News, NPR, and many other national and international news outlets.
