Dan A. Hays is a Senior Research Fellow at Xerox Corporation in the Wilson Center for Research & Technology located near Rochester, NY. Dan's research and technology contributions in the field of electrophotography have been in the areas of contact electrification, charged particle adhesion, and xerographic development system design. These contributions have been recognized at international conferences on electrostatics, adhesion and non-impact printing. He received the Xerox President's Award in 1980 and 1997, and The Society of Imaging Science and Technology (IS&T) Chester Carlson Award in 1991. He was appointed to Fellowship in IS&T in 1996 and received the American Institute of Physics 1997-98 Prize for Industrial Applications of Physics. The Rochester Chamber of Commerce honored him with the 1998 Civic Award for Science & Technology. In 1999, he became a Fellow of the American Physical Society and received the Gutenberg Prize from the Society for Information Display. He has been a leader in IS&T's Digital Printing Technologies Conferences and Technical Council, and presently serves on the Executive Committee of the New York State Section of the American Physical Society. Dan has published 52 scientific papers and holds 36 U.S. Patents.
Prior to Xerox, Dan received a B.S. degree from Iowa State University in 1961 and a Ph.D. in physics from Rutgers University in 1966. Following a postdoctoral position at the University of Pittsburgh, he joined Xerox Corporation in 1968.
