Alexia Chatzitheodorou

Alexia Chatzitheodorou is a theoretical physicist whose research explores how the geometry and elasticity of soft materials dictate their mechanical behavior. Originally from Greece, she earned her B.S. in Physics in the U.K. and completed her Ph.D. in Physics at Syracuse University.

Alongside research, Alexia cares deeply about building systems that better serve the people within them. As the graduate representative on Syracuse University’s Board of Trustees and Chancellor Search Committee, she advised on doctoral training, student representation, and university leadership. She also founded the university’s science policy group to elevate the visibility and impact of research, while championing STEM outreach and mentoring initiatives at the university and beyond.

Alexia hopes to address high-impact scientific and technological challenges facing society.
