Eric M. Furst holds the William H. Severns Jr. Distinguished Chair of Chemical Engineering at the University of Delaware. An internationally recognized expert in colloid science, rheology, and interfacial phenomena, he has authored more than 140 peer-reviewed publications, editorials, and reviews, as well as the book Microrheology (Oxford University Press).

Furst’s research spans fundamental studies of soft matter to applied problems in particle technology, biomaterials, complex fluids, and nanostructured materials. This work has earned him honors including the NASA Exceptional Scientific Achievement Medal and election as a fellow of AAAS, ACS, and the Society of Rheology.

Furst frequently lectures at universities, research institutes, and in industry worldwide. He is also deeply committed to mentoring, having supervised more than two dozen Ph.D. graduates and numerous postdoctoral and undergraduate researchers. He currently serves as a board director and Treasurer of the American Institute of Physics and Treasurer of AIP Foundation.
