Advancing Grid Storage Act of 2018
Purpose
A bill to require the Secretary of Energy to establish an energy storage research program, a demonstration and deployment program, and a technical assistance and grant program, and for other purposes.
Summary of Selected Provisions
- Directs the Department of Energy to undertake a cross-cutting energy storage research program and to adopt long-term cost, performance, and deployment targets for energy storage applications, and authorizes funding of $50 million per year in fiscal years 2019 through 2023 for the program
- Directs DOE to establish a technical assistance and grant program to assist eligible entities in creating procurement systems for energy storage systems, and authorizes funding of $100 million per year in fiscal years 2019 through 2023 for the program
- Directs DOE to establish a grant program to assist in the demonstration and deployment of energy storage systems, and authorizes funding of $150 million per year in fiscal years 2019 through 2023 for the program
