Purpose
To establish the IMPACT for Energy Foundation.
Summary of Selected Provisions
- Directs the Department of Energy to establish a nonprofit, independent foundation to accept and channel funding for innovation initiatives from private donors
- Specifies that the foundation can conduct and support studies, competitions, projects, research, development, commercialization, and other activities
- Establishes that the foundation’s board of directors comprise the secretary of energy, congressional committee leaders from both parties, and appointed members from industry, the academic community, nonprofit organizations, and other stakeholder groups
