Fairness in Forgiveness Act of 2019
Purpose
To amend the Higher Education Act of 1965 to expand eligibility for public service student loan forgiveness to certain contractor employees of national laboratories.
Summary of Selected Provisions
- Permits full-time employees of the Department of Energy’s national laboratories to participate in the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) program
- The eligibility is made retroactive to 2007, when the PSLF program was created.
