Office of Technology Assessment Improvement and Enhancement Act
Purpose
To rename the Office of Technology Assessment as the Congressional Office of Technology, to revise the functions and duties of the Office, and for other purposes.
Summary of Selected Provisions
- Renames the Office of Technology Assessment as the Congressional Office of Technology
- Revises the functions of the office, adding an emphasis on providing more rapid assessments and preventing duplication with the Congressional Research Service and the Government Accountability Office
- Enables any member of Congress to request a technology assessment
- Requires all final assessment products produced by the office to be made public
- Creates a rotator program within the office modeled on that used by the National Science Foundation
