Quantum User Expansion for Science and Technology (QUEST) Act of 2020
Purpose
To establish and support the Quantum User Expansion for Science and Technology Program at the Department of Energy, and for other purposes.
Summary of Selected Provisions
- Amends the National Quantum Initiative Act by directing the Department of Energy to launch a program that provides researchers based in the U.S. with “access to, and use of, U.S. quantum computing resources through a competitive, merit-reviewed process”
- Recommends Congress provide the DOE Office of Science $30 million for the program in fiscal year 2021, ramping up to $100 million by fiscal year 2025
