Space Frontier Act of 2019
Purpose
A bill to reduce regulatory burdens and streamline processes related to commercial space activities, and for other purposes.
Summary of Selected Provisions
- Authorizes the International Space Station to continue operations through 2030 and directs NASA to study the feasibility of creating a replacement “microgravity national laboratory”
- Repeals the existing framework governing approval of earth observation activities by non-governmental entities and replaces it with a process that would expedite license reviews by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
- Directs the Transportation Department to update the regulatory regime governing commercial space launch activities
