Strengthening The Resiliency of Our Nation on the Ground Act
Purpose
To minimize the economic and social costs resulting from losses of life, property, well-being, business activity, and economic growth associated with extreme weather events by ensuring that the United States is more resilient to the impacts of extreme weather events in the short- and long-term, and for other purposes.
Summary of Selected Provisions
  • Instructs the director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy to establish and chair an interagency working group on extreme weather resilience
  • Specifies that the working group should develop a strategic vision, conduct a gap and overlap analysis of agency planning for extreme weather events, and develop a National Extreme Weather Resilience Action Plan
  • Specifies that the action plan should lead to the development of data and tools to facilitate risk analysis and resiliency planning
  • Directs all agencies participating in the gap and overlap analysis to appoint a senior resiliency officer
