Desalination Research Advancement Act
Purpose
To advance desalination research and technological innovation, and for other purposes.
Summary of Selected Provisions
- Recommends the Bureau of Reclamation’s Desalination and Water Purification Research program receive a $20 million annual budget through fiscal year 2026
- Raises the cap on the amount of program funds that can be allocated to institutions of higher education from $1 million to $15 million
- Encourages research that minimizes the impact of desalination processes on aquatic life and coastal systems
