Emergency Support for STEM Act
Purpose
A bill to establish a Governor's Emergency STEM Promotion Fund, and for other purposes.
Summary of Selected Provisions
- Establishes a grant program for states to support “hands-on” STEM education activities in schools with a high percentage of low-income students
- Requires schools or districts that receive grants to contribute matching funds to STEM education activities
- Recommends the Department of Education receive $200 million to carry out the program in fiscal year 2021
