The Lyne Starling Trimble public event series features prominent historians, writers, and scientists who illuminate the history of the physical sciences and their place in society and culture. Supported by a generous donation from astronomer Virginia Trimble, a longtime friend of AIP’s history program, the event series is named after her late father, Dr. Lyne Starling Trimble (1912–1992), an innovative chemist who held patents for a number of color-reproduction systems.

Support Future Events

Dr. Virginia Trimble established a permanent fund to support the Trimble event series in 2013. Gifts to the fund are invested to provide ongoing support, helping make the history of science engaging and accessible to the public for generations to come. We invite you to add to this enduring legacy.
