Robert Oppenheimer on Enrico Fermi
Background
Charles Weiner, director of AIP’s Center for History of Physics, filmed an interview with Robert Oppenheimer in 1966 to obtain footage for use in the documentary The World of Enrico Fermi. It includes both recollections of Fermi and reflections on the field of physics more broadly. The film was part of Harvard Project Physics, which developed curricular materials for high school physics courses, including content focused on history and culture. The finished product appeared in 1970 and included only brief excerpts from the interview. It can be viewed
